Why Ek Titli ?
This basically is the answer to the problem. Whats the Problem?
The Problem is Global Warming. Now, whats Global Warming?

Global warming refers to an average increase in the Earth’s temperature, which in turn causes changes in climate. A warmer Earth may lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide range of impacts on plants, wildlife, and humans. When scientists talk about the issue of climate change, their concern is about global warming caused by human activities.

Let us start our examination of Global warming with a study of its causes. Global warming is an overall state of existence that is the cumulative effect of hundreds of environmental factors. All of these join together in both a linear and random model to show global warming as a chain of events.

Most modern attention to the problem of global warming began with discussion of depletion of the Earth’s Ozone layer. Ozone (O3) is a molecular form of Oxygen. The Ozone layer is a relatively thin strata of these molecules set in the lower portion of the Earth’s stratosphere.
Depletion of the Earth’s Ozone layer has resulted in a large increase in Ultra Violet Radiation reaching the surface of the earth. Does this increase in UV rays equate to global warming? Not really. In fact most scientific opinion is that depletion of the Ozone layer results in cooling of both the stratosphere and troposphere. So why mention depletion of the Ozone layer as regards to global warming? Because it represents a needed balance between harmful radiation being allowed to reach the earth’s surface and our desire to stem the rapid increase in our air and water temperature. Remember, we are viewing global warming as a chain of events.

Most significant cause of global warming?
The primary cause of global warming is Carbon Dioxide emissions. CO2 is being pumped into our atmosphere at an insane pace; 8 billion tons of CO2 entered the air last year. Of course some of this is due to natural activity such as volcanic eruptions and people breathing. But the Earth is equipped to easily absorb those into the normal regenerative process. No, the beginning of global warming was caused by fossil fuels being burned and emitting plenty of CO2.

Hmmm, Interesting. How is that going to effect us?
The effects of global warming and climate change are of concern both for the environment and human life. Evidence of observed climate change includes the instrumental temperature record, rising sea levels, Warmer waters – More killer storms, Spread of disease, Massive crop failure and droughts, decreased snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere and Widespread extinction of species.

Oh, are we in Trouble? Is there a need to worry? Can we help to prevent it?

What Can We Do About It?

What Can We Do About It?

Yes, we are in deep trouble.. and there is an immediate need to worry. But, there are solutions. As individuals we can be more careful with what and how much we use and throw/waste. For starters here are a list of 50 things that can be done to make an effort [+]

Where does ek titli fit in?
A butterfly’s (ek titli’s) life revolves around a flower and a flowers on a plant/tree. Indirectly, the life of a butterfly revolves around a tree. Like a butterfly, and all other creatures, our lives too revolves around a tree.

The tree is the essence of all living animals and the root of all life on Earth. It is the lungs of the planet and only planting more of it can also help in Combating Global Warming and its effects. For starters, it surely will help your lungs too by purifying the surrounding air.

Is ek Titli only planting trees?
Ahhh.. yes and no!
Trees are the crux to the existence of not only Man but also every living being on the planet. The food chain starts and ends with the tree. Unfortunately, the uncontrolled felling of trees has not only harmed the environment but also is causing major direct and indirect implications.

“More than a decade ago, Edward O Wilson, the Harvard naturalist, first estimated that about 30,000 species were going extinct each year – an extinction rate of about three an hour. Further research has confirmed that just about every group of animals and plants – from mosses and ferns to palm trees, frogs, and monkeys – is experiencing an unprecedented loss of diversity.

Scientists estimate that 12 per cent of all birds, 23 per cent of mammals, a quarter of conifers, a third of amphibians and more than half of all palm trees are threatened with imminent extinction. Climate change alone could lead to the further extinction of between 15 and 37 per cent of all species by the end of the century, the scientists say” [+]

It’s estimated that the total amount of CO2 emitted by Man (only during respiration) in a year is equivalent to the amount a tree absorbs in a year. Having that figure, we know how important trees are as it needs to absorb CO2 respired not only by man but by all living beings, and to add to that, the burning of fossil fuels, et al.

There are far too many benefits in planting trees, hence we are primarily focusing on planting trees, gifting plants and also creating consciousness and awareness about Global Warming; it’s Causes and Effects.

It’s a giant step for the titli, but a small leap for Mankind !

our Motto is
the titli needs a tree , the titli will survive.

Hey, thats great. I would like to be a part of it too.
You surely can. The titli would love to have you as part of this endeavor. You could either volunteer for us, provide us your expertise, talk/write about us, go social [join us on Facebook, Follow us on Twitter].
